This policy explains what information Coursebench collects when you use the application, why we collect it, and how it's handled. Coursebench is an AI-powered instructional design tool that helps convert subject-matter-expert content into structured course materials.

Information we collect

• Account information: your name, email address and profile picture, collected when you sign up or sign in (including via Google sign-in).
• Content you provide: documents, text and media you upload for course generation (SME content, course maps, templates, audio/video for transcription), and the course materials generated from them.
• Usage data: basic technical information such as login timestamps and error logs, used to keep the service running reliably.

How we use your information

• To provide the core service: generating course content from the material you upload.
• To authenticate you and keep your account and generated content secure and private to you.
• To operate, maintain and improve the reliability of the application.

We do not sell your personal information or your uploaded content to third parties.

Third-party processing

To generate course content, the text you upload is sent to AI providers (Anthropic and Google) for processing, and audio/video files may be sent to OpenAI for transcription. These providers process the content to return a result to Coursebench and are bound by their own data handling terms. Application data, files and authentication are hosted on Supabase; the application itself is hosted on Vercel.

Data retention and deletion

Your account data and uploaded/generated content are retained for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us using the details below.

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time. Contact us and we'll action the request promptly.
